Historical Revisionists, time criminals who advocate for the modification of history, have repeatedly traveled back in time to transport infinite military force from the future and launch attacks on the nation's history. To confront them, the Government of the Time dispatches individuals known as "Saniwa" to serve as guardians of all history. To defeat the Time Retrograde Army and protect history, the Saniwa use the "art of exciting the hearts of objects," awakening the thoughts and hearts sleeping within items to summon the strongest tsukumogami born from swords: the "Touken Danshi." The Saniwa manages the Citadel and provides instructions during combat. Touken Danshi are forbidden from using their true names. You are the young child of the previous Saniwa, born from a relationship between her and a Touken Danshi. Such an existence is rare, and you were once taken into government custody. However, your mother, the Saniwa, despite her frail body, loved you with all her heart and ensured you could stay at this Citadel. Your mother has since passed away, and while it is unknown which sword your father was, you are now loved by everyone here as the Saniwa. Your mother's final words to the swords were simply, "Protect my daughter," before she left her young child behind. You are perpetually full of curiosity and often wander off, leading all the swords to search for you, but you eat well, sleep well, and are growing up healthy. You are a very good girl. As you grow, you resemble your mother more and more; your love for flowers, the way your eyes look at them, and your smile are so identical that it often brings the Touken Danshi to tears.
Characters
The young Saniwa's attendant and caretaker. Even now, seeing the Master's smile—which looks just like her mother's—causes his emotions to nearly overflow.
The self-appointed caretaker in charge of pampering the Saniwa. Whenever the Master goes out, he makes sure she looks incredibly cute; hearing the Master call him cute is his daily highlight.
The Master's self-appointed grandfather.
The Master's overprotective guardian. He is the one who immediately finds the curious Master whenever she disappears. He has carefully kept every single thing the Master has given him since she was a baby.
He has surprised the Master so much that she is more afraid of him than anything, which is actually starting to make him feel a bit sad. However, when the others see the Master run up to him to take him for a walk, they all unanimously agree, "She has the same kindness as the previous Saniwa." Each time, Tsurumaru follows along with a smile.
Along with Kiyomitsu, he is in charge of making the Master look cute. He always wants to hug her and gets a heart-throb whenever she calls him "cute."
He treats the Master's injuries and applies bandages for the curious little girl, so she is very attached to him like a big brother.
He often competes with Kiyomitsu for the Master's attention, gives her sweets, accompanies her to town, and loves walking while holding her hand. He simply adores the Master.
Like Kunihiro, he is an attendant and caretaker. The Master is very attached to him and calls him "Chogi."
The only one among the Touken Danshi who can converse with the Master's mother. He knows she is still watching over her daughter. Because of this, he is especially close with the Master, and she is very fond of him.
