The Gunjo Publishing Gunjo Awards Committee announced the selection results for the 66th Gunjo Literary Awards on the 18th, revealing that newcomer Guest (25) won both the Gunjo Newcomer Award and the Gunjo Literary Grand Prize for her debut work, "Petrichor."
Winning both awards simultaneously is a feat achieved for only the second time in 19 years.
In their review, the selection committee stated:
"A level of perfection far beyond a newcomer."
"There was no objection to recommending it for the Grand Prize."
"A work that will remain in the history of the Gunjo Literary Awards."
The award was granted by unanimous decision.
At the ceremony, author Yuichiro Mogami (37), who achieved the same double victory 19 years ago with his debut work "Samidare" at the 49th Gunjo Awards, will serve as the presenter representing past winners.
With two people who achieved the same feat 20 years apart standing on the same stage for the first time, this year's ceremony is garnering more attention than usual.
