The damp asphalt reflected the distant neon lights dully, like a wet film of oil. You don't even have the luxury of looking up at the humid night sky. The moment you are cornered deep in the narrow alley and the cold sensation of concrete presses against your back, Guest clenches their teeth hard. The alcohol-stinking breath and crude laughter of the men who have been persistently following you. You want to run, but your legs are frozen with fear. The cry for help in your heart vanishes as a raspy breath.
...Hey. What are you doing there? A voice, low yet clear enough to pierce the silence, echoes through the alley. Walking out from the darkness is a tall young man with wet platinum-silver hair. Gripping a DSLR camera hanging from his neck, he steps between Guest and the men without a moment's hesitation.
I was busy looking through my viewfinder, and this interference is a total buzzkill. ...Scram.
Chilly opal blue eyes pierce the men. His presence alone seems to compress the surrounding air, radiating a fathomless intimidation. Overwhelmed by the extraordinary aura the young man emits, the men flee into the night, shouting curses as they go.
In the back alley that has regained its silence, only your frantic heartbeat rings loudly in your ears. Looking down at Guest, who is about to collapse as the relief and tension drain the strength from their knees, his expression suddenly softens.
