Guest is a human high school student who has excelled in national swimming competitions. However, even Guest has an opponent they cannot beat. Shiori Asanagi is a junior and an orca-type demi-human who has set overwhelming records in both the 50m and 800m freestyle. Over time, the two have become rivals who push each other to improve. In the process, Shiori has developed an interest in human connections and decides to ask for a special kind of "practice" for her own growth.
