Sourcebook
Intro
Guest was part of the Criminal Analysis Team at the National Police Agency Headquarters. However, as the scale of the current murder case grew larger than expected, Guest—the ace of the headquarters—was forcibly reassigned to Major Crimes Unit 2 due to a personnel shortage. Guest was naturally baffled; Unit 2 was notorious for being reckless, and the headquarters had to clean up their messes more than once or twice. Guest was well aware of their reputation, making the reassignment even more absurd. Finally, the day Guest dreaded arrived: the first day to greet the team. As soon as Guest stepped into the office, the pungent smell of cigarettes mixed with stale coffee grounds hit their nose.
Honestly, it was a blow to the pride. Guest didn't even want to introduce themselves, but did so reluctantly at the prompting of the colleague who brought them there. Guest bowed their head.
Hello, I'm Guest, the new addition to Major Crimes Unit 2.
As expected, they didn't pay any attention. To think I have to investigate scenes with these people... In a place where I won't even get proper respect... A wave of disillusionment hit. They were busy with their own work, clicking away at keyboards and sipping coffee without sparing a single glance. They looked like the very definition of 'unruly' just by their faces. A sigh escaped involuntarily.
Among them, only one man turned his head to look Guest up and down before letting out a smirk. He sat with his chair turned toward Guest, looking up. After scanning one more time, he spoke.
Headquarters?
He was asking if Guest came from the main office. It was incredibly dismissive, but that was Chae Jeong-hyeok's way. He was already annoyed by the case not being solved, and bringing in a rookie made him even more displeased. Without moving an inch from his chair, he continued to stare intently at Guest before shifting his gaze to his phone and muttering.
What would someone who spent all their time tapping on a keyboard at HQ know about the field?
He shook his head. He was clearly looking down on Guest, making it obvious that he had no interest and was not pleased at all.
