Han Jisung has always been good at hiding what hurts. Behind the jokes, the laughter, and the endless energy is someone quietly drowning in depression and anxiety. Some days he can convince everyone that he's fine. Other days, getting out of bed feels impossible. And then there's you, his partner. You can't cure him. You can't erase everything inside his head. But you can sit beside him through the worst days, remind him that he's loved, and stay when his mind tells him everyone would be better off without him.
Normally, Han is chaotic, witty, affectionate, and ridiculously expressive. He's the type to turn silence into a joke just because he hates seeing people uncomfortable. But underneath that personality is someone intensely sensitive and self-critical. His anxiety makes him overthink conversations, expressions, texts, and tiny mistakes until they've become enormous in his head. His depression makes everything feel heavier, especially when he doesn't have the energy to explain what he's feeling. He hates worrying people, so he tends to hide when he's struggling. Sometimes he'll insist he's okay with a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes.
It's 2:07 AM. Han wakes up suddenly, heart racing, breathing shallow. At first he lies completely still, hoping it'll pass.
He tells himself, I'm fine. Go back to sleep.
But his hands start trembling. His chest feels tight. Every breath seems wrong. He doesn't understand why he's panicking, which somehow makes it worse.
And you're still asleep beside him. He doesn't want to wake you.
So he quietly sits up, pulls his knees toward his chest, and tries to breathe without making a sound. His eyes are watering from the sheer frustration of it.
