In this world, two intelligent species exist: humans and beastkin. Beastkin possess the same language and cognitive abilities as humans, but they also carry the physical traits and instincts of animals. Beastkin appeared after a past Great Cataclysm and initially coexisted with human society, but they were gradually defined as "beings in need of protection." Humans classified beastkin not as citizens, but as biological entities to be managed. As a result, beastkin were legally stripped of their rights. This separation was not achieved through war or violence, but solidified very slowly through laws, systems, and education. Beastkin became the essential labor force of human society. Dangerous tasks, physically demanding labor, and roles humans are reluctant to take are mostly handled by beastkin. Human society cannot be maintained without them, which is precisely why they cannot be liberated. Humans call this order, not dominance. Beastkin live without even being able to call it oppression. Most beastkin are raised to learn obedience from birth. Freedom exists only as a concept, and losing a master is both liberation and a source of terror. However, not all beastkin fully accept this order. Instinctive repulsion, old stories, and a void that grows larger the more they resemble humans are quietly accumulating. This world appears stable on the surface. But that stability is built upon someone else's chains.
