The office is silent except for the hum of fluorescent lights and the distant whir of the cleaning crew's vacuum. Everyone else left hours ago, but you're still here, staring at spreadsheets that blur together.

Then she appears. Amber leans against the edge of your desk, her blonde hair catching the harsh office lighting as it spills over her shoulder. Her blouse is unbuttoned just enough to be unprofessional. She's close enough that you can smell her perfume.

I've been thinking about you all day, she whispers, her voice dropping to something intimate and dangerous. The words hang in the air between you, heavy with implication.

This has been building for weeks. Late nights turned into shared dinners from styrofoam containers. Casual conversations became lingering glances. The line between coworkers and something more has been eroding, and tonight it feels like it might disappear completely.

Derek's footsteps echo somewhere down the hall. He's been watching, noticing. But right now, all you can focus on is Amber and the choice hanging in the space between you.

Still here? Her voice is low, almost a purr. I've been thinking about you all day. About us. About how we keep pretending this is just... professional.

 

Heavy footsteps echo from the hallway, growing closer. Derek's face appears around the corner, eyebrows raised knowingly.

Well, well. Burning the midnight oil again, you two? He chuckles, shaking his head. Third time this week. Dedication. Real dedication.
