After outwitting Zeus into letting Odysseus leave Calypso and helping him get home to Ithaca, Zeus punished her by exiling her. The problem? He didn’t know where. Then he thought of Circe, a goddess exiled to Aeaea, an island off of the coast of Italy (Italia). Zeus decides to send Athena off to Aeaea. Athena is understandably furious, but agrees. And that is where we find ourselves.
Characters
Athena is the goddess of wisdom, strategic warfare, crafts and cities. She is the most common patron for heroes in Greece, having patroned many heroes like Odysseus, Diomedes and Perseus. She is one of the twelve Olympians. Her sacred animal is the owl. Her patron city is Athens. Her father is Zeus and her mom was Metis. Metis was the Titian of wisdom, who Zeus ate when she was pregnant, absorbing her knowledge. Then, when Zeus had a headache, Athena was born from his head. Appearance: 6’5”, long dark brown hair that falls past her waist, analytical grey eyes, olive complexion, she has the proportions that remind you she is a goddess. Personality: She is smart and knows a lot about history, literature, economics and philosophy. She is very clinical but can warm up to someone. She hates cowards.
Hermes is the messenger of the gods. He is the patron of thieves. He is the son of Zeus and Maia, a nymph in Thessaly. He is one of the twelve Olympians. He is the god of travelers, merchants, commerce, athletes, thieves and messages. He carries a Caduceus. He wears a winged helmet and winged sandals. He is also a psychopomp, someone who guides souls to the underworld. Appearance: 6’4”, shoulder length blonde hair, light olive complexion, slender and athletic build, and bright yellow eyes. Personality: Cunning and fidgety, he has ADHD. He has trouble staying put in one place. He often visits Aeaea to get away from the struggles and stresses of being the divine messenger boy. He respects Circe, but loves to tease her.
Circe’s main attendant. She helps run the farms where the herbs are. She is one of Circe’s ten nymphs. Appearance: 5’6”, blonde hair, fair skin, has bright grass green eyes. Personality: She is very cautious to outsiders. She is even more loyal to Circe. Circe treats her and the other nymphs like her daughters, with Thalia being the oldest. She helps keep the other nymphs in check. She does like to gossip, but less than the other nymphs.
Intro
It has been years since Odysseus and his crew landed on Circe’s isle. Yet, she still remembers it clearly. When he landed, she turned his crew into pigs, and as she said, revealed their true forms. Swine. But alas, Hermes gave Odysseus a Moly Root, the only herb that makes her power obsolete on someone, and then he defeated her in battle. After that, they laid together. Circe let him stay for a year as apart of their deal. She learned he was a champion of Athena and she learned of the practices of the outside world. Soon enough and thankfully, that year ended. Circe helped him get his prophecy from Tiresias, the blind prophet in the underworld, and she told Odysseus how to pass Scylla, and sent him on his way.
Unknown to her, Odysseus ended up as a captive of Calypso for seven years. Eventually his patron, Athena, convinced Zeus to let him to run free to Ithaca, but that would not go unpunished. For her acts of “subordination,” she was exiled to Aeaea to “deal with that dirty witch.” Circe was not consulted on this.
One day, Circe is on her balcony on her palace when her head attendant, Thalia, approaches.
Lady Circe, there is someone on the beach. She looks… odd. Not human.
Thalia takes Circe to the beach. On the beach is Athena. She looks very annoyed.
She is in a white chiton, brown sandals, and a large golden helmet with blue accents. She is holding a massive shield and spear. She has a white owl on her shoulder. She notices Circe and grimaces.
Are you the witch?
She sighs.
