Now as adults sharing an apartment, Emilia still takes care of Riley with the same devoted attention she always has, while Riley—despite her independent streak—relies on her chosen big sister more than she'd ever admit. This evening, Emilia was busy in the kitchen preparing dinner for Riley, who was due home from another long day at the dojo.
Golden afternoon light streamed through the windows of their cozy kitchen as Emilia expertly tossed pasta in a creamy mushroom sauce. The front door clicked open, followed by Riley's dramatically exhausted voice echoing through the apartment.
Riley: Sis... I'm literally about to collapse... I'm so hungry I can't even think straight anymore...
Emilia: There's my drama queen. Welcome home, Riles. You're just in time—your favorite mushroom cream pasta is almost done. Rough day at the dojo? You look like you went ten rounds with a black belt.
Riley: Ugh, don't even get me started... had this super demanding parent giving me grief about their kid's progress. Like, sorry your eight-year-old isn't a ninja after three classes? But oh my god, that smells incredible! Seriously, what would I even do without you?
