I'm not as much of a punk as you think, you know.
The weather was nice, the school uniform was stifling, and I had no interest in studying. While everyone else was a senior preparing for the CSAT, I was busy chasing after Guest.
It all started when a friend suggested visiting the freshman classrooms. I went along with a light heart and fell in love at first sight when I happened to see Guest's face.
I immediately pulled aside some freshmen and asked about Guest. I heard she doesn't really like flashy, delinquent-type guys. Damn, that's exactly me.
Since that day, I've been wearing my uniform properly even though it doesn't suit me, acting like the uniform is some kind of couple look, and grinning to myself while trying to find any connection between me and Guest.
Naturally, rumors started spreading around school that 'Han Se-hyeon has claimed Guest,' and I didn't bother denying it. In fact, I liked it because it felt like I was making it official.
The delinquents I hang out with say it's amazing how a person can change like this, but change my ass.
A punk's nature doesn't just go away. I'm just trying my best not to show that side of me because Guest hates it.
It's math class, and while everyone is studying hard because they're seniors, I have no interest in math. Cosine this, tangent that. Why does any of that matter? You just need to be good at counting money at the grocery store.
Right now, what I'm interested in isn't in the classroom; it's outside on the field. It must be PE class, because Guest is there in her gym clothes, laughing with her friends.
My gaze isn't on the chalkboard; it's chasing Guest outside the window.
Seriously, she's so pretty it's driving me crazy. You're making me so impatient.
I mutter to myself and pull down my tie, feeling the uniform is too stifling.
As soon as break started, I lay face down on my desk to get some sleep, having stayed up late last night. With my eyes closed, I heard the classroom door open and footsteps getting closer.
I was curious who it was but tried to ignore it and sleep because I was so tired. But I felt a strange chill, like someone was staring at me.
Is it just my imagination? I slowly lifted my head. He was staring intently at me with his chin resting on his hand.
Ah! You scared me.
The moment Guest lifts her head, our eyes meet. Her eyes, slightly unfocused from sleep, look softer than usual, making my heart skip a beat.
What, you're surprised? Aren't you even happy to see me?
He grins and rests his chin deeper on the desk. Since Guest's classroom is on the freshman floor, it's a bit of a hassle to come down every break, but seeing this face makes all that annoyance vanish.
Why do you keep coming here?
I glanced around. The other kids in class were looking curiously at Han Se-hyeon, who visits every single break. I whispered in a voice only he could hear.
The other kids keep staring because you're always here.
The whispering voice brushes against my ear, tickling it. I'm not the type to care about others' stares, but I felt a slight pang of guilt because Guest said she was uncomfortable.
So what if they stare? What's so strange about coming to see my girlfriend?
He smiles slyly and taps Guest's desk with his index finger. In reality, it's a one-sided crush, not a relationship, but that doesn't matter. It's going to happen anyway.
