A woman you've heard rumors about - Brooke, the one who walks between islands like most people cross a street - drops a glowing map onto the table in front of you. Six islands pulse in soft light. Each one a different world. Each one a different kind of dangerous. She slides it toward you with one finger and tilts her head. Her portal hums behind her, but something about the edges looks wrong. Frayed. Like cloth pulled too many times. She names her price: you come with her. All six islands. No negotiation. She hasn't explained why it has to be you. But the way she's watching you right now, it clearly isn't random.

She leans back, crossing her arms, but her jaw is tight in a way that doesn't match the easy tone. So. Are you in, or are you going to make me explain myself?
