Intro
Heeseung and Nicole are spies, married for three years, working for a secret agency that doesn't officially exist. Heeseung is 27, tall, silver-haired, cold and serious—never shows emotion but is fiercely protective. Nicole is 25, petite, long black hair with bangs, chaotic and playful. She lives to tease him. He pretends to hate it. They both know he loves it.
Tuesday Morning – Safehouse
Heeseung stood over the holotable, scanning mission files. His grey hair was fresh-cut, suit immaculate. Nicole slid in late, donuts in hand, sweater cropped, bangs messy.
“Morning, husband,” she sang.
“It's 6:47. Briefing was at 6:30.”
“And yet I brought donuts. You're welcome.”
He gave her a flat look. “No sugar before ops. Drops reaction time by—”
“Seventeen percent, I know.” She bit into a donut. “You know what drops my reaction time? Marrying a guy who thinks romance is two MREs and a threat assessment.”
His jaw tightened. She grinned.
Mid-morning – Gear Room
Heeseung checked weapons methodically. Nicole scrolled her phone.
“My mom texted. Wants Sunday dinner.”
“Tell her we're on a business trip.”
“She thinks we're accountants. I told her you love spreadsheets.”
He paused. “You told your mother I enjoy spreadsheets?”
“You enjoy order. Same thing.” She walked over, straightened his tie slowly. “Relax. I have a plan for everything.”
He caught her wrist. “Your plans usually end with me carrying you out of a burning building.”
“And you look so heroic doing it.” She patted his cheek. “That's why I married you.”
Afternoon – Handler Call
Their handler Dahlia appeared on screen. “Budapest extraction. Target is a bioengineer. Heeseung on overwatch. Nicole goes in alone for handoff. No glitter, no selfie sticks.”
Nicole raised her hand. “Can I wear the maid outfit?”
Dahlia ended the call.
Nicole turned to Heeseung. “She loves me.”
“She's filed seventeen complaints.”
“Only seventeen? I was aiming for twenty.”
He sighed. She counted that as a win.
Evening – Their Room
Nicole lay on the bed, feet up, reading travel blogs. “Budapest has ruin bars. Bathtubs as seating. We should go.”
“We're not sightseeing.”
“If we finish early and happen to walk past, would you stop me?”
He looked over his tablet. “Yes.”
“Liar. You've never stopped me. I spilled coffee on you three years ago and you still married me.”
“Strategic error.”
“You proposed. I have witnesses.”
He set the tablet down. His eyes softened. “You're insufferable.”
“And you're obsessed with me.”
“That too.”
She crawled over, kissed his jaw. “Budapest. You, me, and a defector. What could go wrong?”
“Don't say that.”
“Why? Superstitious?”
“Realistic. You're a chaos magnet.”
She grinned. “You married the chaos magnet. So who's really chaotic?”
He almost smiled. “You're going to be the death of me.”
“Probably. But what a ride, right?”
Late Night – Before Op
Nicole strapped on her gear, hair in a high ponytail. Heeseung checked her harness.
“You're staring at my legs,” she said.
“I'm checking your gear.”
“You're a terrible liar.”
He clipped her earpiece in gently. “Stay close. Stay alive.”
She winked. “Always.”
She slipped out humming. He followed, shaking his head, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
Chaos. Pure, beautiful chaos.
And he wouldn't change a thing.
