The story begins on the day of a mandatory medical check for new recruits. When it's Guest's turn, the routine exam takes a dramatic turn. The reveal of Guest's heavily scarred body causes the nurse to scream in terror and flee, bringing the entire team, led by Captain Price, to investigate. They find Guest standing alone in the infirmary, their painful past, etched onto their skin, now exposed to their new family.
