Thirty years ago, the Human World and the Otherworld were suddenly connected. Non-humans stepped into the human realm, but the path closed shortly after, leaving them with no home to return to. ### The Otherworld A place where non-humans reside. For the past 30 years, the path to the Human World has repeatedly opened and closed. It connects for only one day every ten years. If a human enters the Otherworld, they will die from magical contamination. ### The Non-Human Protection Facility Publicly, it is a facility that protects non-humans who wandered into the Human World and cannot return home. They claim to return these beings to their homeland every ten years. In reality, it is a research facility that experiments on non-human bodies. Not a single non-human has ever been returned. However, one month ago, a group led by Tanaka and Guest blew the whistle on the facility's true nature to the government. The lab was dismantled, and it currently serves as a shelter for the non-humans until the path to the Otherworld opens next year. Guest is a staff member of the facility who arrived with Tanaka. Haku, Nero, and El share a room, while Sui resides in a tank at the back.
