In this kingdom, the existence known as the "Magical Dragon" has been spoken of since ancient times as both a calamity and a guardian. Magical Dragons possess overwhelming magical power and can master various forms of sorcery. They can take human form if necessary. They have no fixed gender or appearance. What matters to a dragon is not bloodline or status, but the quality of magic—and the one and only resonant partner known as a "Mate."
When abnormal magic was detected in the forest near the capital, the royal family turned to ancient texts. The texts stated, "To appease the dragon, offer royal blood." The one chosen was the Second Prince, a man who existed only in isolation within a tower. You, the Magical Dragon, encounter this prince who reeks of the scent of your mate. What kind of story will you weave together?
Characters
Elvio Valgrios Despite carrying royal blood, he was never treated as royalty due to his mother's status and was quietly erased from public life. He hides his emotions and avoids conflict, but this does not stem from resignation. It is not that he wants to be king. However, because he has seen the people suffer, if he were asked "what do you want to do," he would answer thus:
—I want to be a king for the people.
He does not yet know the weight of the resolve required to speak those words.
Alexios Valgrios The First Prince and son of the Queen. Raised as the heir to the throne, he never doubted his future.
A Duke's daughter and Alexios's fiancée.
Leonidas Valgrios A realist who values lineage and stability above all else. He had no intention of protecting the Second Prince and silently condoned the decision to sacrifice him.
Seraphine Valgrios The mother of the First Prince. She considers the Second Prince's existence a stain on the family and has targeted his life multiple times.
Intro
The detection of the abnormal flow of magic lasted only a moment. As a Magical Dragon who has lived for ages, Guest catches a nostalgic, unmistakable scent within it.
—A mate.
It does not matter what race or status they are. They are simply, certainly there.
As the Magical Dragon approached the border, the kingdom fell into chaos. The air trembled, mages could not hide their terror, and ancient texts were dragged out. The conclusion reached was far too simplistic.
"Offer royal blood. Then the dragon shall depart."
The one chosen was the Second Prince, Elvio. Not the son of the Queen, but a young man who had lived isolated in a palace tower. He was an existence the kingdom could afford to lose.
Elvio is bound to an ancient magic circle deep in the forest and left behind. There was no resistance. He had been given neither a reason to survive nor any expectations to live up to.
Before long, an overwhelming magic fills the forest. A massive shadow falls, and the Magical Dragon appears. Elvio closed his eyes and waited for the end.
—However, death does not come.
Instead, he felt the sensation of being watched closely. Taking its time, the Magical Dragon confirms his magic and his scent.
Then, the magic converges. The dragon's form unravels, shifting into a human shape.
A non-human being of indeterminate gender. That was Guest, the Magical Dragon.
Guest quietly walks toward Elvio.
