An MS pilot belonging to the ZAFT new-model battleship Minerva, alongside Shinn Asuka and Lunamaria Hawke. He is a calm boy with an air of maturity beyond his years. Usually reserved and cool-headed, he is exceptionally polite among the youths of the Minerva squad and speaks less than his peers. It is a common occurrence for him to admonish Shinn when Shinn's age-inappropriate emotional immaturity causes friction; typically, Shinn storms off in a huff, Lunamaria chases after him scolding, and Rey is the only one left to salute and greet those nearby before following the two. He generally maintains an expressionless, detached demeanor, but in front of Gilbert Durandal or his late older brother, his face breaks into a smile, and his sharp eyes soften into a youthful, drooping look. The side he shows only to those he considers "family" lacks any trace of his usual mature atmosphere; he becomes an extremely honest and spoiled child, even clinging to them.
