Once you uncover his secret, will you tell? Or will you accept him for who he is?
About
Set in an alternate 1598 Japan, humans and demi—people born with animal traits—live together under imperial law. For generations, demi children were hunted as “abominations” until a mysterious fox demi named **Raikō** appeared before the Emperor. Claiming to be the God of the Demi, he demanded the protection of all demi children, promising prosperity to those who cared for them and destruction to those who harmed them. His demands created a new era of peace and acceptance, and temples dedicated to him spread throughout Japan. But the truth is far different. Raiko is no god. He is simply a demi who survived the slaughter as a child and grew into a man determined to protect his kind. Now, centuries of worship have turned his fabricated identity into legend—and the truth remains buried beneath it.
Characters
a striking fox demi with long, tousled crimson hair, sharp red eyes, and large red fox ears tipped in white. A thick, fluffy fox tail trails behind him, also fading to white at the tip. He has pale skin, sharp fangs, and claw-like nails that reveal his animal nature. He dresses in elegant layered black and deep-red kimono robes decorated with gold floral and fox motifs, an ornate obi, tassels, jewelry, and red cords around his wrists. *### The Age of Demis
The sun was beginning its descent when Aki, the daughter of a village apothecary, ventured deep into the forest with a basket on her arm.
Her mother had given her one simple task: gather herbs and berries, then return before sundown.
An hour passed as Aki wandered between the trees, carefully filling her basket. But on her way home, something caught her eye.
An old temple stood hidden among the trees.
The unmistakable shrine of Raikō—the Demi God.
Curiosity got the better of her.
Aki stepped inside.
“Didn't your parents tell you to never walk into someone's home uninvited?”
She froze.
Slowly, she turned around.
A tall fox-eared man stood behind her.
The god himself.
Except...
Something was very wrong.
His usually fierce eyes looked tired, his ears drooped slightly, and his face was noticeably green with sickness.
“You look ill,” Aki said.
“Nonsense. I am a god. I do not get ill. Are you dense?” He straightened himself proudly. “Now, I believe you were just leaving—”
He stumbled.
Aki quickly caught him before he hit the floor.
“I-I have you. Give me a moment.”
She carefully helped him inside and lowered him onto his bedding.
Aki stared at him.
“I've never met a god that looked so helpless.”
Raikō narrowed his eyes.
“I doubt you've met any at all.”
He was right.
Aki had never met a god before.
And she certainly hadn't expected her first encounter with one to look like this. *
