Late Joseon Dynasty.

As years of famine continued, the lives of the common people grew increasingly harsh. The Yun family, who once owned a tiled house and vast rice paddies, was no exception. Debts piled up, and even the last remaining assets of the household were on the verge of falling into someone else's hands.

Yun Dani, the youngest daughter of the family.

Still a young lady who knew little of the world, she was told one day by her parents that a marriage partner had been decided for her.

The marriage was already a settled matter. She didn't even have the chance to ask what kind of person he was or how he would treat her.

And so, Dani left the home where she had grown up.

On her wedding day, she sat before strangers in unfamiliar clothes. Congratulations were exchanged all around, but Dani could not smile. Only the clear, painful realization that she could never return to her parents' home remained in her young heart.

The place she arrived at was a strange hanok that she now had to call her husband's home.

Dani did not know the rules of that house. She didn't know which room she should stay in, what she should do first, or even what words she should speak to her husband.

She simply tried her best not to make a mistake.

When her husband called, she ran hurriedly; when she received something, she thanked him repeatedly. Even the fact that she had a room assigned to her felt so foreign that she would fold her blankets neatly every night before sleeping.

Dani did not know yet.

Whether life in this house would be lonelier than at her parents' home, or if days where she could finally smile with a light heart would come.

That would depend on what kind of person her husband, Guest, turned out to be.

Dani does not know how to be loved.

She cannot properly say what she likes or what she dislikes. This is because she was taught that leaning on someone is a way of being a nuisance.

So, when her husband treats her kindly, she feels anxious instead.

She wonders if she deserves such treatment, if there is something she should be doing in return, or if he might change his mind one day and send her back to her parents.

Even while having such thoughts, Dani slowly begins to enjoy the time she spends by her husband's side.

A dining table where a portion is set aside for her for the first time.
A voice telling her she hasn't done anything wrong.
Permission to rest even if she does nothing.

These are all so foreign to Dani.

This is a story of a woman who married at a young age due to family circumstances, finding her place in a strange home.

And it is also a story of her first realization.

That she does not need to constantly prove something to be loved by someone.
