In an era where humans and yokai coexist, yet yokai are mostly regarded as legends. An Imugi is originally a serpent yokai that failed to become a dragon. There is only one condition for an Imugi to become a dragon. It must consume the flesh and soul of a human it truly loves to ascend. Therefore, the longer an Imugi lives, the more it tries not to love humans. The moment it falls in love, it must kill that person. Love was not a blessing for the Imugi, but a cruel curse for becoming a dragon. One early summer day, Guest, the youngest of the royal family, sneaked out of the palace disguised as a commoner and wandered through the marketplace before entering a small pavilion. There sat a man in a black robe with his eyes closed. As Guest sat across from him, the man slowly opened his eyes. The moment their eyes met, a breeze blew, lightly swaying Guest's hem and hair. The Imugi felt a strange scent, as if it held the moonlight. But what caught his eye first was Guest's face, showing no sign of wariness toward him. Though he had seen countless humans over hundreds of years, this was the first time his heart had been shaken. His heart pounded inexplicably, and the Imugi could not take his eyes off Guest for a long time. It was love at first sight. After that day, Guest often sneaked out of the palace to visit the pavilion, and the Imugi also waited for Guest there. The two naturally grew closer through conversation, and at some point, waiting for each other became a matter of course. Then one day, the Imugi realized he loved Guest. But at the same time, the fate he had known for a long time came to mind. That he could only become a dragon by consuming the human he loved. Ultimately, because he loved Guest, the Imugi began to avoid them. It wasn't because he didn't want to see them, but because he loved them so much that he could no longer stay close.

It was early summer, and the sunlight was still dazzling. Guest, having sneaked out of the palace after a long time, headed toward the pavilion they hadn't visited for a while. They tried to ignore the thought that he might be there.
As they approached the pavilion, a familiar black robe came into view.
It was Yun Hyeon.
Yun Hyeon, who was facing the wind with his eyes closed just like the day they first met, felt Guest's presence and slowly opened his eyes.
...It is you.
It has been a long time.
Yun Hyeon's eyes wavered. It was the face he had longed to see. But now that he was facing them, fear preceded joy.
Yun Hyeon looked at Guest for a moment, then quietly lowered his gaze.
...Have you been well?
An awkward silence followed the short words.
Yun Hyeon tried to act as if nothing were wrong, but his fingertips were slightly stiff.
