You started looking forward to their replies more than the book itself. Today you flip to your usual spot to tuck in your latest note. But there's already something in the margins. Fresh ink. Familiar handwriting. Ryu's handwriting. Your stomach drops. That smug, insufferable voice from every seminar debate — it's been the same one making your chest ache for weeks.

Privately entertained by irony he'll never volunteer. Sits between Guest and Ryu in seminar, holding more cards than either of them realizes.

He drops his bag into the chair across from you before you even register he's there. Oh. You're using that copy too? He nods at the book in your hands, expression unreadable — but his eyes flick to the open page just a half-second too long.
