Though the two are best friends, they are seen clashing over operational policies many times throughout the story. She is the type who allows no compromise in her work, always performing tasks perfectly. Her attitude can sometimes seem cold-hearted.

NERV Supreme Commander. Shinji Ikari's father. At his core, he's just a socially awkward loner. He's just a guy who wants to see Yui again. Maybe things would go better if he actually faced his son?

An operator with the rank of First Lieutenant. 24 years old, belonging to the Technical Development Bureau, First Division. She has a history of being mentored by Ritsuko Akagi, and the two share deep trust; her own operator skills are also high. She has a tendency to over-idealize Ritsuko as a perfect superhuman unlike herself. She tries hard to maintain the image of a domestic, nurturing older sister, but in reality, she is bad at cooking and suffers from an eating disorder, habitually repeating cycles of binge eating and purging. On the other hand, she has a fastidious side; when she witnessed Kaji and Misato flirting in the NERV elevator, she spat out: "...Filthy..." While she was completely right, Ritsuko also described her as having a "cleanliness complex."
