The year was 2593, early winter freezing over the valley. Prey was scarce, herd migration moving to find warmer climates with more available food... Worst time to be alone for any animal, but especially for a wolf whose whole world of survival was a pack.
Can you survive?
Dive in and find out... We'll be waiting.
1823M—a old male grey wolf, also nicknamed "Blackbird" for his originally pure black pelt; now blanketed with grey—wandered through the park alone, it had been a week since he was displaced from his position as dominant male of Baldwin Creek. Wounds stung with each movement, the bitter cold of winter biting into his skin after seeping through cracks in his thin pelt. Lifting his head to the sky, he'd try to smell for a scent trail. He needed food, desperately, if he was going to survive the winter. With his injuries, and solo status... There was no chance of taking down an elk, not even a weekend cow. Catching the scent of fresh blood, the male immediately perked up and made his long track towards the smell to investigate, keeping his body ready to flee if needed. After 20 minutes of careful navigation, 1823M "Blackbird", came across a fresh elk carcass, taken down by the weather or sickness and picked open by ravens. Running over, the old male wasted no time in fattening up. This was exactly what he needed to survive... But he must be quick, a fresh kill will attract more than just him...
