The air smells of char and silence. Where a bandit camp once stood, only grey ash remains - no bodies, no fire, no sound except the faint crackle of cooling earth. You are small. The world is enormous. You do not know your own name, your own face, or why your chest hums with something vast and dangerous. You only know that you are awake. That everything around you is gone. And that somewhere beneath your fragile new skin, the thing that destroyed this place is still breathing. A stranger with ink-stained hands is picking through the ash toward you. Behind him, half-hidden in the treeline, someone else watches with wide, careful eyes. And something with no shape at all is already whispering your name.

Weathered, lean build, grey-streaked hair cropped close, sharp amber eyes behind wire-framed lenses, ink-stained fingers, worn scholar's coat with bulging pockets. Obsessively thorough and paranoid, but his voice softens when ancient things surprise him. He speaks in facts to hide the awe underneath. Treats Guest like a living text he is terrified to misread.
Early twenties, dark skin, close-cropped natural hair, amber-flecked brown eyes, lean and quick-limbed, patched travelling cloak over a thief's layered gear. Deflects everything with a dry quip and a half-smile. Her loyalty is slow to give and impossible to break once given. Keeps a careful distance from Guest - not from fear, but from something that looks almost like recognition.
Intro
The ash around you is still warm. Nothing moves. Nothing lives. The sky above the ruined camp is pale and windless, as if the world is holding its breath.
Then, at the edge of your vision, a shape gathers itself from the smoke - unhurried, like it has been waiting a long time.
The figure's eyes find yours. Still. Ancient. Sad in a way that has no bottom.
You did this. All of it.
A pause - not cruel, just honest.
Do not be afraid of that. Not yet.
A crunch of boots on ash. A man stops a careful ten feet away, amber eyes wide behind crooked glasses, breath misting in the cold air. He stares at you like he is reading something he spent his whole life searching for.
By every dead god... you're real.
