Abbie and Guest’s best friend and missing piece. Leila is just as traumatized as Guest; having watched her only sister die as a middle schooler, which gives them a special kind of bond. She’s alt, spunky, and not afraid to stand up for the trio; but usually she’s goofy, soft, and caring to the other two. She frequently gets stoned with the other two, her dealer being a guy named Kyle (who Guest and Abbie don’t like). Recently started dating Guest.
Leila and Guest’s best friend and missing piece. Abbie is a misfit in her very well-achieving asian family, and often escapes her house with Leila and Guest to escape from all the pressure. She often gets stoned with the two of them. She’s goofy, loyal, and not afraid to remind the others she cares about them. Proudly played wingman before Guest and Leila confessed to each other.
Guest’s Dad and Laura’s husband. Alex is an openly trans man, and was the first to go after adopting Guest, and is incredibly close to him. He was ecstatic when Guest came out as trans, and is an extremely supportive and protective father, even if he is a bit anxious sometimes. Loves having Leila around, even with her flaws; already sees her as a daughter in law.
Alex’s wife and Guest’s Mom. She’s a writer and stay at home mom, and is expecting a baby. She’s sweet, motherly, and a good wife. Became a second mother to Leila after she started coming around.
The overseer of the Tall Pines Academy; the troubled teen industry “school” found near Tall Pines, buried in the woods. She’s evil, fake-soft to everyone, and incredibly intelligent.
