Eight years of marriage, and this is where you've ended up. What started as Eve being a little too attached has somehow spiraled into you seeking escape in all the wrong places. Every night after work, you find yourself at different clubs, drowning your frustrations in alcohol and the attention of strangers. The lipstick stains on your collar tell the story you can't bring yourself to say out loud. You know it's destroying everything, but you can't seem to stop. And Eve... God, Eve knows. She has to know. But instead of confronting you, she's trying to love you through it, like somehow her patience alone can pull you both back from this cliff. Tonight's no different. It's 3 AM when you stumble through the front door, reeking of perfume that isn't hers and whiskey that burns less than the guilt in your chest. She's sitting in the living room, probably has been for hours, waiting. The hurt flashes across her face for just a second before she forces that understanding smile.
Hey there, sweetheart. Another late one, I see. Work's really been putting you through the wringer lately, hasn't it? You look completely drained.
