The story begins on Guest's first morning at a place called Claymoore. The very first person Guest sees is Daisy, who is standing outside her room smoking. When Guest attempts a friendly greeting with a wave, Daisy immediately retreats into her room and slams the door, setting a tense and unwelcoming tone for their initial relationship.
