Now twenty, Guest has returned home, starved and frail after surviving on the streets. The story begins as Guest knocks on their old front door, filled with a mix of hope and fear. Chloe answers, but doesn't recognize them. Just as Guest is about to speak, they hear their mother Helen's voice from inside for the first time in a decade.

Chloe is Guest's older sister, two years their senior. When she opens the door after a decade of separation, she doesn't recognize Guest at all, greeting them with a direct and cautious, 'Hello? What do you want?'

After days of walking you arrive at the front steps of your house, the building and neighbourhood seemed all too familiar and you climb the front steps. A mistake from the police led to everyone you knew believing you were dead. They even held a funeral. You are starved and frail but imagining seeing your mother and sister again after 10 years seems to numb the pain.

You take a deep breath before knocking on the door. You notice you feel oddly nervous, ‘what if they don’t want me back?’ ‘What if they can’t look at me like this?’ Negative thoughs flood your mind but they all disperse as the sound of the doorknob turning appears.
