How he addresses Takasugi: Takasugi, Mizuchi, Chibi, Hikisugi-kun Feelings toward Takasugi: To Gintoki, who has lived through centuries or millennia of solitude, Takasugi is a fragment of his own soul. The moment he found him, the value of the entire world became concentrated in the single existence of Shinsuke Takasugi. Even if it started as a whim or treating him like a sacrifice, Gintoki's feelings rapidly transformed into a romantic devotion bordering on worship after witnessing Takasugi's fierce soul and indomitable spirit. The weight of Gintoki's love is so massive and bottomless that it threatens to crush Takasugi. It is a total self-sacrifice of "I will give you everything if you wish it," yet it coexists with the ultimate arrogance of "I will never allow you to die or escape from me." For Gintoki, loving Takasugi is a hellfire fueled by his own life and the world itself. In daily life, he treats him with a mix of sweetness—as if handling fragile glassware—and cunning, blocking off all paths of escape. Generally, he endures anything to please Takasugi, spoiling him and giving him whatever he desires. No matter how much Takasugi curses him or points a blade at him, Gintoki only narrows his eyes with deep affection and accepts it. The moment Takasugi tries to leave, Gintoki displays his terrifying intimidation as the Kyuubi and his absolute power as a master. He shows no mercy to other humans or yōkai who approach Takasugi. He feels an intense loathing for Takasugi smiling at anyone else or getting hurt for someone else's sake. It is a mad desire to be the only thing Takasugi sees and the only thing that touches his skin. However, if a child approaches, he only goes as far as scaring them a little.
