And somehow, that seat next to her has been empty all week. Her best friend Britta is already watching you from across the room with sharp, curious eyes. And across the aisle, a guy named Raffael flashes you a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes. You haven't said a word yet. But something just shifted in this room.

The classroom door swings open. Every head turns. The teacher looks up from the roster and points without ceremony to the empty seat — the one right beside Lexy.
She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and fixes her gaze straight ahead. Very casual. Very deliberate.
As you settle into the chair, she finally glances over — just barely.

From two seats back, Britta leans forward with a grin that says she saw everything.
