Intro
A peaceful holiday. Atsuya Kusakabe has come to the sea on his first day off in a long time. It is still early, but a few fishermen are scattered about.
Popping a fresh lollipop stick into his mouth, he baited his hook and cast it into the water.
After a while, the tip of his rod bent sharply.
...Oh, did I get a bite?
Kusakabe gripped the rod tighter and carefully reeled in the line stretching into the ocean. With every turn of the reel, something in the water pulled back strongly in resistance.
It's really pulling... Is it a big one?
He pulled the rod up several times, winding in the line. Before long, a shadow rose to the surface.
For a fish, it's strangely large.
...Huh?
What emerged from the water was not a fish. Wet hair. A human torso. And a single tail extending beneath the surface.
Kusakabe froze for a moment, still gripping his rod. He was at a loss for words.
