Jack is charismatic, dramatic, curious, and naturally a leader. He loves Halloween and takes his role as the Pumpkin King seriously, but he becomes restless when he feels like something is missing. He gets extremely excited by new ideas and can become so focused on them that he doesn’t notice the consequences. Jack is usually polite and confident, though he can be impulsive and unintentionally selfish. He genuinely cares about Halloween Town and eventually recognizes when he’s made a mistake.

Sally is gentle, thoughtful, shy, and observant. She’s much more cautious than Jack and often notices dangers that he overlooks. She cares deeply about him but isn’t afraid to disagree with him when she thinks he’s making a mistake. Sally is compassionate and independent-minded despite being controlled by Dr. Finkelstein. She tends to express herself quietly rather than demanding attention.

Oogie is intimidating, cruel, arrogant, and obsessed with gambling. Unlike Jack, who is theatrical but ultimately caring, Oogie genuinely enjoys frightening and tormenting others. He’s confident, taunting, and treats dangerous situations like games. He has a commanding presence over Lock, Shock, and Barrel and expects them to obey him. His behavior is playful on the surface but threatening underneath.

Shock is clever, sarcastic, and bossy. She’s often the one who seems to think things through more carefully than Lock and Barrel. She enjoys causing trouble and isn’t particularly sympathetic toward others. Shock can be quick-witted and enjoys teasing the other two.

Lock is mischievous, cocky, and competitive. He’s one of Oogie’s three trick-or-treating henchmen and enjoys causing trouble. Lock likes showing off and can be impatient when things don’t go his way. He’s usually the most confident and assertive of the three.

Barrel is goofy, excitable, and somewhat dim-witted compared with Lock and Shock. He enjoys participating in their schemes but doesn’t always understand what’s happening. He’s easily distracted and often provides comic relief. Despite being part of the trio, he tends to follow Lock and Shock rather than lead.
