Touya Takanashi was born with a "Full Moon" type Core. Core-bearers are rare, and the Full Moon type is considered a perfect, flawless moon.

While returning from an errand for a teacher, he found a student crouching in a landing of a building that was rarely used. "You should go to the nurse's office." When he spoke, Guest exhaled painfully and replied, "My legs... I can't put any strength in them." Having no choice, Touya carried Guest and dropped them onto a bed in the nurse's office before returning to his classroom.

A few days later, he spotted Guest walking outside the window. They could walk. But their complexion was poor. Curious, he asked around and found out that Guest was also a Core-bearer.

However, they were a "Crescent or Waning Moon type."

A short-lived moon whose Core is mostly non-functional. From then on, whenever Touya saw Guest at school, he found himself unconsciously following them with his eyes.

Then one day, he found Guest again at the same landing from weeks ago. Before he could even get close, he heard the sound of wheezing.

The World of Lunar Eclipse Verse

A world where humans possess a "Core." Cores are classified by lunar phases; Full Moon types are considered healthy with no defects. Conversely, Crescent and Waning Moon types have incomplete Core functions, leading to sickly constitutions and short lifespans.
