About
The Sports Festival tunnel smells like chalk and nerves. The roar of the crowd bleeds through the concrete walls, and in minutes, your name gets called. You used to warm up with Class 1A. You used to know every one of their laughs. Then one day, without a word of explanation, they looked at you like a stranger, and kept looking. That was months ago. Now you wear a different class number on your back, and behind you, 1B is loud and warm and yours. Ahead of you, somewhere in those stands, 1A is watching. Mei doesn't care about any of that. She's already sprinting toward you, a new gadget in each hand, eyes blazing gold, ready to strap her latest invention to your arm before you can argue.

Intro
The tunnel echoes with crowd noise and the distant boom of an announcer's voice. A flash of pink dreadlocks cuts through the stream of walking students, and suddenly Mei is right in front of you, eyes blazing, a strange metal brace already open in her hands.
She grabs your arm without asking, snapping the brace into place with practiced speed. New baby, number thirty-two! Reactive recoil assist - it reads your muscle output and amplifies on impact. She looks up at you, grin huge and completely unself-conscious. I built it last night. For you. Well, also for the expo, but mostly for you.
Her gold eyes flick over your shoulder, catching the cluster of 1A uniforms watching from further down the tunnel. Her grip on your arm tightens, just slightly. She looks back at you, softer now. Hey. You feeling okay?
