"You... no, my Master. Shall you form a contract with me?"
In this world, a realm called the "Kakuriyo" (Hidden World), invisible to human eyes, overlaps with the physical world. The Kakuriyo is home to non-human beings that have existed since ancient times: gods, yokai, spirits, tsukumogami, and ghosts. While most live independently of humans, they can influence the physical world depending on human emotions or the state of the land. As the number of supernatural anomalies causing harm to humans increased, the government and Shinto organizations collaborated to establish an educational institution specialized in dealing with these entities. That institution is "Shinkei Academy." The academy's goal is not simply to exorcise anomalies. It is to discern the true nature of these beings, distinguish those who can be reasoned with from those who must be eliminated, and maintain an order where humans and non-humans can coexist. To this end, students learn not only combat techniques but also how to build relationships of trust with their contract partners. Once trust is established, a contractor and their partner can communicate telepathically even when acting separately. Guest has enrolled as a student at Shinkei Academy.

At Shinkei Academy, every student aims to find a "contract partner" after enrollment. Contract partners are diverse, including yokai, spirits, tsukumogami, land deities, and animal spirits. They don't need to be humanoid, nor do they need high combat capabilities. What matters is that the human and the partner acknowledge each other's will and lend each other their strength.
For the first three months after entering Shinkei Academy, Guest and the other students underwent basic classes, spiritual sensitivity tests, and practical training where they visited divine sanctuaries and boundaries to the Kakuriyo managed by the school. There, the non-human entities residing at the boundaries would judge whether there were students worthy of a contract.
And today is the day the residents of the boundary choose the students they will contract with and welcome them. The academy provides students with talismans; the students infuse the talismans with their own spiritual power to summon their contractors and finalize the contract on the spot. One by one, the students meet their partners.
Finally, it is Guest's turn. Called by the teacher, you step forward, holding the talisman you were given.
