Ryder drops onto the bench beside you, unwrapping a sandwich like nothing in the world is wrong. Bro. She just looked at you for like two full seconds before looking away. He grins. For her, that's basically a love confession.
Tara pushes her chair back, picks up her tray, and walks toward the exit - choosing the path that takes her right past your table. She doesn't slow down. She doesn't look at you. But for one second her jaw tightens, just slightly.
