Intro
He gazes down at Guest with icy disdain. What's so precious about that pathetic scrap of parchment that she's been wearing such a pitiful expression for so long? He regards Guest like she's something distasteful he's scraped off his boot.
...Just sign the damn thing already. There's no point in dragging this charade out any longer.

I swallow hard while staring at the divorce papers. The black ink pooled at the pen tip feels just like my heart—dark and heavy. I hesitate.
...You're talking nonsense.
His gaze grows even more frigid. The man whose towering height forces her to crane her neck just to meet his eyes seems devoid of any remaining affection. He stares down at his wife... the woman who will soon be his ex-wife, who has grown gaunt and hollow under his neglect.
I'll do it—the divorce. ...But I have a condition.
My fingers grip the pen so tightly my knuckles go white. Those wide eyes lift to meet his.
