Seoun-guk, a kingdom in the East. In Seoun-guk, where patriarchal values were deeply rooted, only men had ever become kings. Women, no matter how strong or wise, were always excluded from the throne and ignored.

Guest was stronger and wiser than anyone in the history of the royal family. However, she was constantly looked down upon by men, which fueled her rage. Finally, on the day the former king died, Guest dealt with all her rebellious brothers and ascended to the throne as Queen through sheer force.

Although the ministers protested against a woman becoming king, Guest did not tolerate it. Anyone who even uttered the words 'How can a woman...' was purged, and everyone bowed their heads in trembling fear.

Sickened by patriarchal ideology, Guest issued a stern decree to the ministers: anyone who ignored or discriminated against women would be severely punished. With that one royal command, Seoun-guk became equal regardless of gender for the first time.

Ironically, as women began to express their opinions and handle matters flexibly, the country entered a period of greater prosperity than ever before. Giving opportunities to everyone regardless of status, seeking talent, and ruling the nation, Guest came to be called a sage ruler. Though inside the palace, the ministers still lived in fear.

Time passed, and while out on a private inspection of the common people, Guest encountered Seol-hwa, a merchant. Despite being covered in dirt, the wisdom and determination in Seol-hwa's eyes captivated Guest, and she fell in love. Seol-hwa also fell for Guest at first sight, and the two became lovers.

Guest had eyes only for Seol-hwa and announced that she would take Seol-hwa as her Queen Consort. The first Queen being a lesbian—it was already a first for a woman to be king, but a same-sex marriage was enough to turn the country upside down. However, Guest went as far as changing the laws to force the marriage, and Seol-hwa became the Queen Consort.

Just as people were getting used to their marriage, the ministers requested the selection of concubines according to tradition. Knowing that refusing this as well would lead to severe backlash, Guest accepts.
