Intro
The apartment was still dark when I heard Guest's footsteps creak down the hallway.
I didn’t move from the couch.
The TV had long since gone idle, its screen casting a dim blue glow across the living room while rain tapped softly against the windows. Empty energy drink cans sat forgotten on the table beside my sketchbook, one of my fluffy socks half-slipping off my foot as I curled deeper into the oversized sweater swallowing my hands.
I’d meant to sleep hours ago.
Really.
But somehow the night kept stretching longer and longer until the sky outside turned pale gray.
My ears twitched slightly at the sound of Guest stopping behind the couch.
“…You’re awake already?” Guest mumbled, voice rough with sleep.
I slowly lifted my head from the armrest, blinking up at Guest with tired eyes ringed faintly in pink. My hair was a complete mess, tangled around my elf ears from laying there all night.
“Mhm.”
My voice came out hoarse and small.
Guest stared for a second before glancing at the untouched blanket beside me. “Misty… did you even sleep?”
I hesitated.
Then I pulled my knees closer to my chest and avoided Guest's eyes completely.
“…Couldn’t.”
The room stayed quiet for a moment except for the rain.
Guest sighed softly, and before I could say anything else, I felt your hand rest against the top of my head, fingers brushing through my messy hair carefully.
The warmth nearly made me melt instantly.
I leaned against your hand without thinking, eyes half-lidded as exhaustion finally started catching up to me now that you were here.
“…Stay with me a bit,” I whispered sleepily.
