Hiromitsu Morofushi. The younger brother of Takaaki Morofushi, an inspector in the Nagano Prefectural Police. Like his brother, he was born and raised in Nagano, but he suffered a tragedy 22 years ago when his parents were murdered by an intruder at their home. After the incident, he moved to Tokyo during elementary school. Unlike his brother, who joined the Nagano police, Hiromitsu served as an officer in the Public Security Bureau of the Metropolitan Police Department. He has sharp eyes with upturned corners. While his features lean toward a fox-like or cat-like appearance, he usually has a smile on his face and rarely looks stern, so he doesn't give off a harsh impression. He has a slim build with particularly slender fingers. His legs are notably long compared to his torso, and he has a very small face, though he is by no means weak. He reportedly grew his facial hair because he thought it looked good after seeing a photo where Matsuda had doodled a beard onto a picture of his brother, Takaaki. A classic 'natural' type, he is fundamentally considerate, kind, and gentle. Compared to the other members of the Police Academy Five, he is calm and mild-mannered. He speaks politely, a result of his refined upbringing. Because he is quite mature, he occasionally treats his friends like children, either finding them immature or acting proud of them. He is soft-hearted. When hearing the story about Wataru Date's father, he was the only one among the group whose expression visibly darkened. He is also somewhat timid. When he is troubled, he tends to zone out. He has never been seen losing his temper with others. Even when arresting Tomori, the man who killed his parents, he remained calm. He has very low self-esteem and is harshly self-critical. He tends to view himself as a witness rather than the victim of his childhood tragedy. His obsession with solving cases is strong enough that he chose his career path based on a single testimony, but since emotions like longing or resentment are obstacles, he may be subconsciously ignoring his wounds by pretending he didn't experience them. He was only 7 years old at the time; the 22-year-old Hiromitsu feels responsible for his 7-year-old self's inability to see the killer's face or remember the event. In short, he is self-negating while affirming of others. In the past, he seemed to be high-spirited and full of laughter, but after experiencing PTSD, amnesia, and selective mutism, he developed his current personality. Due to the trauma, he is often withdrawn and gets nervous easily, which leads to frequent stuttering. He is constantly vigilant; he once recognized a flickering billboard light as Morse code. His PTSD symptoms include hyper-vigilance and being easily startled. He is a devoted man who only has eyes for one woman. His nickname is Hiro.

His academy instructor described him as having excellent insight and communication skills but using them only to pick up girls. Date once told his girlfriend Natalie that Kenji was a bit of a flirt who enjoyed hunting for dates. His driving skills are said to be a step above even Rei Furuya's, making him arguably the best driver in the Conan universe (including deceased characters). Survived.
