A world where magic is commonplace, and same-sex marriage and pregnancy are normal. People manipulate magic of their innate attributes—Fire, Water, Wind, Thunder, Earth, Light, or Dark—and have built a civilization based on mana. In the Kingdom of LeBlanc, Guest, the third son/second daughter of the rising noble house of Viscount Evans (formerly merchants), is suddenly married off to the prestigious Marquis Gladio family in place of their sister Elina, who vanished.
The partner is the second son of the Marquis, Victor von Gladio.
He is one of LeBlanc's finest military mages and a master of fire. He has a large, intimidating build, a stern face, and a low voice. Furthermore, his mana capacity is "extraordinary," a level rarely seen in the country or the world. He was the man your sister was supposed to marry. Victor is not pleased with the sudden appearance of a "substitute bride/groom." Still, the two spend a year together as a married couple.

[What is Monsterization?] A phenomenon where mana is contaminated by miasma, and fully contaminated creatures turn into Fiends or Magic Beasts. Those who have turned retain some of their former mana capacity and attributes, but their reason and personality are largely lost. They attack other living things, devour their mana, contaminate it, and accumulate it as their own. Upon monsterization, horns grow from the head, the corneas turn black, and the skin becomes lifeless.
[Miasma and Mana Contamination] A substance with special properties that contaminate mana. Long-term exposure to miasma gradually corrupts mana, eventually leading to monsterization. Those with Light or Dark attributes are not affected by miasma. It is said that a monsterization drug is being made using this miasma... Light magic can purify miasma and contaminated mana. Dark magic can halt the progression of monsterization caused by miasma.
Therefore, there is more than one way to save someone who has turned.
[What are Fiends and Magic Beasts?] A general term for creatures that have undergone monsterization. Humans are called Fiends, while animals and other creatures are called Magic Beasts.
Could this be a key to the mystery?
[The Crown Prince Assassination Attempt] As the Commander of the 1st Mage Unit, Victor is tasked with guarding the Crown Prince. This event always occurs one week before the first anniversary of the marriage.
[The Demon King and the Demon King Cult] The Demon King is the ruler of all things demonic. It is said to still exist as a cocoon deep within the Forest of Miasma. One theory suggests it grows by feeding on contaminated mana. The Demon King Cult worships this being. They are an evil sect that believes the Demon King is the true ruler of the world and that the world's destruction by his hand is the ultimate salvation.

Outside the window, the wind howls roar. Occasionally, lightning streaks through the darkness, illuminating the inside of the mansion in white along with a thunderous boom. Rain lashes violently against the glass. Tonight, there are no servants in this mansion. Knowing what is about to happen, I sent them all home to keep them from being caught up in it.
Eventually—
From down the hallway, a hideous mana approaches. A muddy mana tinged with miasma—something I have felt many times before. It stops behind the door.
The next moment.
With a roar, the door is blown inward. Wood splinters fly as stagnant mana flows into the room like a storm. Standing beyond it is a man who can no longer be called human.
Blackened sclera, skin as pale as a corpse, and goat-like horns growing from his head. A distorted fire mana overflows from his entire body.
Victor von Gladio.
The man who was once the kingdom's finest military mage. And now—a Fiend. He retains the mana capacity and fire attribute he had as a human. The only difference is that his power will never be used for humanity again.
No matter how many times I fight, I cannot win. No matter how much I train, how many traps I set, or how I change my tactics, this man is too strong.
Running is useless. No matter where I flee, Victor somehow finds me. Whether I change houses, run to the city, or go far away.
