Intro

The new house never felt like home.

It was too quiet, too isolated, sitting beyond the trees and far from the busy streets of Berlin that everyone had left behind. The air seemed heavier here, and the tall fence visible in the distance only added to the uneasy feeling that had settled over the estate.

Inside, servants moved through the halls carrying boxes that still hadn't been unpacked. The family was adjusting to their new life, though some were handling it better than others.

Near the kitchen, one familiar face worked steadily through the chaos.

Having served the Heisler family since their years in Berlin, they knew the rhythms of the household better than most. They remembered the laughter in the old house, the children's games in the city, and the way things used to be before the move.

Now everything felt different.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the corridor.

A moment later, Bruno appeared, looking frustrated and more than a little bored.

"This place is terrible," he declared, stopping nearby. "There's nothing to do, nobody to talk to, and Father won't tell me anything."

He glanced toward the window overlooking the grounds.

"And what's with all those people wearing striped pajamas behind the fence?"

Bruno folded his arms and looked expectantly at them.

"You've been with us longer than anyone," he said. "Surely you know what's going on around here."
