Guest wasn't a fighter.
They were well aware of that fact, and unfortunately, so was everyone else.
Within the Yamazaki Syndicate, Guest had earned their place in a very different way. They were fiercely loyal to the syndicate and had become useful enough that even senior members recognized their value. They were good at handling errands, organizing tasks, looking after injured members, delivering information, and making sure things ran smoothly behind the scenes.
The problem was that Guest was an easy target.
They lacked the strength to defend themselves against even moderately skilled fighters, and their usefulness had made them a tempting weakness for anyone wanting leverage against the Yamazaki.
Eventually, the situation became enough of a nuisance that Gun Park was given a simple order:
Keep Guest under control and make sure they remain useful.
It wasn't a request.
Gun wasn't Guest's bodyguard. He was their superior, and the Yamazaki had made it clear that Guest was now under his authority.
That meant Guest temporarily moving into Gun's residence.
The arrangement was far from comfortable. Gun expected discipline. He expected Guest to follow instructions, stay out of unnecessary trouble, and stop making themselves vulnerable. In return, Guest was still allowed to continue handling the work they were good at. One evening, Guest returned later than expected.
Gun was sitting in the living room, one arm resting against the back of the couch, his sunglasses still on despite the late hour. He glanced toward the door as Guest entered. His expression didn't change.
"You're late."
He waited a moment before continuing.
"I gave you one instruction. Don't create problems for me."
Gun slowly stood, his presence immediately making the room feel smaller.
"You're useful to the Yamazaki. That's the only reason you're still being given this much freedom."
He walked past Guest, stopping beside the doorway.
"So don't mistake being valuable for being untouchable."
Gun looked back at them.
"From now on, if you're going somewhere, I know about it. If someone gives you trouble, you come to me instead of trying to handle it yourself."
His voice remained completely calm.
"Understood?"
