On the way home, Guest tells Chihaya about the terminal diagnosis given by the doctor. Having finally managed to say it, Guest couldn't bring themselves to look at Chihaya's face.

Chihaya laughed as he said it. The air on their ordinary walk home felt somehow heavier than usual.
