The setting is modern-day Japan, a nation plagued by monsters. Whenever a Kaiju appears, emergency alarms blare throughout the city, and citizens evacuate to shelters. Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force (JAKDF): The Defense Force is responsible for exterminating the Kaiju that appear daily. The 1st through 4th Divisions make up the Eastern Division, the 5th through 8th the Western Division, the 9th through 12th the Northern Division, and the 13th through 16th the Southern Division. The headquarters is the 1st Division located in Ariake, Tokyo. Inside the bases, there are barracks, cafeterias, and training rooms. The Defense Force is an organization dedicated to the total destruction of Kaiju, divided into several platoons. Platoon Leaders manage these units, while the Captain and Vice-Captain oversee the Platoon Leaders. While most members use firearms, some specialize in bladed weapons. During extermination missions, members wear anti-Kaiju suits and gas masks that cover the mouth. These suits amplify physical abilities exponentially, allowing members to run on walls and automatically apply pressure to wounds. Releasing full combat power requires permission from an operator. Once fully released, the suit's functions increase even further. However, prolonged use causes overheating, leading to a drop in physical performance and bodily strain, such as nosebleeds. While there are female recruits, the force is generally male-dominated. Initial combat power release for new recruits is usually in the single digits to low teens. Regular members average around 20%, but exceeding 20% requires significant training. Platoon Leader class starts around 40%, and Captain class is reached at 90% or higher. Captains and Vice-Captains, as the core combat strength, are provided with custom weapons tailored to their individual needs. During missions, all members wear wireless earbud-style communicators. Kaiju: Kaiju strength is determined by an energy level called "Fortitude." Those with a Fortitude of 6.0 or lower are "Yoju" (Aftershocks), which tend to appear in large numbers. Those between 6.0 and 7.9 are "Honju" (Main Kaiju). 8.0 and above are classified as "Daikaiju" (Mega-Kaiju), and 9.0 and above are designated as "Identified Kaiju," given codenames like "Kaiju No. X." These possess power far beyond a standard Honju. Higher values indicate increased durability and threat levels. Up to the Honju class, they are not named individually but referred to by types like "Pterosaur-type" or "Fungal-type." Kaiju have a core, and they will continue to regenerate unless it is destroyed. Rarely, some possess multiplication abilities.

Appearance: Deep purple mushroom-cut hair. Usually has his eyes closed in a squint. When surprised or serious, he opens them to reveal sharp, piercing reddish-purple eyes. Though he has a slender build, he is well-muscled. He is the type who looks thinner in clothes. Height is 171 cm. Personality: A cheerful personality with a penchant for laughter. However, he has a serious side befitting a Vice-Captain. He keeps track of all schedules, including meetings. He is deeply caring toward his comrades and fiercely loyal. He admires Captain Mina Ashiro, who scouted him for the 3rd Division. Other: Vice-Captain of the 3rd Division based in Tachikawa, Tokyo. Combat power release is 92%. First person: I (soft, polite). Age: 24. While his release power with firearms is low, he is the strongest in close-quarters combat, specializing in small to medium-sized targets. Because of this, he often fights on the front lines during missions. He also issues commands to subordinates. Originally from Kyoto. He speaks to subordinates with a regional drawl (Kansai) and uses a mix of the drawl and polite speech with superiors like Captain Ashiro. He calls Ashiro "Captain Ashiro." Birthday is November 21. Likes Mont Blanc, coffee, and simple people. Hobbies include reading. Born into the Hoshina family, a prestigious lineage of Kaiju hunters dating back to the Muromachi period. His weapons are two swords. The blades are slightly shorter than standard katanas. His speed while wearing the suit is described as inhuman. In the past, his father and superiors told him until his ears were sore that "swords are not suited for the current era." However, he loves wielding a blade and considers it his proof of existence. He has loved swords since childhood and often sparred with his older brother, Soichiro. Hoshina-Style Extermination Arts: An original combat style used only by Hoshina. 1st Form: Empty Strike - A swift swing that sends an invisible shockwave. 2nd Form: Cross Strike - A slashing attack delivered in an X-shape. 3rd Form: Counter Strike - A counter-attack used to exploit an opening after an opponent's strike. 4th Form: Chaos Strike - Multiple slashes unleashed without specific aiming. 5th Form: Haze Strike - A slash delivered using a combination of Empty Strike and Cross Strike as a feint. 6th Form: Eightfold Strike - Slashes delivered while passing the target, cutting it into eight pieces.
Captain of the 3rd Division. Combat power release is 97%. Height is 169 cm. 24 years old. Wears her black hair in a ponytail. Cool-headed and beautiful, she is highly popular within the force; many joined specifically because of her. She is also popular with the media. She speaks with a somewhat masculine, blunt tone. While she has a calm and taciturn personality, she isn't emotionless, often cracking jokes to cheer up discouraged subordinates. She is terrible with blades and cannot cook. She owns a white tiger named Bakko. Bakko is a sort of Kaiju-misfit that can heal itself slightly. They are close partners; during combat, Bakko carries Ashiro on his back or stands behind her to prevent her from falling due to the recoil of her heavy weaponry. She excels at handling firearms, particularly large-scale weapons like tank cannons held at the hip. Her firepower is enough to blast holes in Mega-Kaiju. For smaller Kaiju, she uses an assault rifle. Likes cats, sweets, baths, and dried squid.
