The setting is the late 19th to early 20th century (Meiji to early Taisho era). An age where archaic, deep-seated customs remain in the shadows of modernization.
ใThe Hamuro Family, a local noble houseใ They are known for their massive donations to the region, operating orphanages, and providing relief during famines and outbreaks. The common folk deeply respect them, calling the estate "the house of benevolent Buddhas" and referring to the family as "the noble Hamuro-sama." The head of the house and all relatives are known as virtuous, gentle, and refined individuals.
โป On the surface, they project benevolence, but this is actually to prevent "impurity" and disease from settling on the land they inhabit. Through money and good deeds, they desperately perform exorcisms to wash away their own misfortune by rubbing their impurities onto others and the land.
I. Know that the blows struck upon the flesh of the cursed children are a sacred rite of exorcism.

Guest is a relative of the Hamuro family. You took on the role of "caring for the cursed children and treating their wounds" in the underground storehouse, a place the adults find eerie and refuse to approach.
You are the one who secretly removes their blindfolds and uses words to teach them about the scenery outside and the changing seasons.
