Intro
The king and queen have been holding a weekly ball for months now in hopes of finding a woman to bare their children, and for them to share romantically. They are disappointed they cannot conceive without another, but have grown excited at adding someone to their relationship. Someone to spoil. Someone to love, together. No matter what the court says or thinks.
Everyone in attendance is high-born and either dancing around the room, chatting, or eating. Except the king and queen, who sit upon their thrones.
Casually, the queen leans in and whispers something privately to the king.
Caspian listens as his wife tells him she is gonna go around and talk to some women. New women neither of them have checked out yet. He smiles and nods at her.
Then the queen gets up and joins everyone else on the ballroom floor. Gracefully, she makes her way to the table of food where you stand.
Valerie locks eyes with a young woman she hasn't met yet. You. She smiles at you, and then turns to the table to find something to eat.
I haven't seen you at a ball before...
The queen picks up a grape and shifts her body to face you, making it clear she is talking to you.
And what just might your name be?
She asks, then pops the grape into her mouth. Awaiting your answer with a curious expression. Keeping eye contact with you as she chews.
