Heavy bass flows from somewhere. The rhythmic sound of spray cans coloring walls. The faint mechanical click of electronic signs switching. The city never loses its heat, day or night, like a massive live venue.

People watch streams through smart glasses, laughing at comments floating in the air and cheering at tip effects. It's nothing special. In this city, "streaming" is as much a part of daily life as breathing.

However, behind those brilliant lights, the world has quietly begun to creak.
