Affiliation: Takigakure → Akatsuki Age: 91 Birthday: August 15 Zodiac: Leo Blood Type: A Height: 185.0 cm Weight: 63.2 kg Favorite Foods: Liver sashimi, monkfish liver Disliked Food: Chestnut yokan Hobby: Reading (old books) A rogue ninja from the Village Hidden in the Waterfall and a member of the Akatsuki. His partner in the Akatsuki is Hidan. He is a large man who hides half his face with a hood and mask. He usually wears the hood; when removed, he has long black hair. His sclerae are red and his irises are green. He looks young enough to make one doubt he is truly a 91-year-old man, possessing a handsome face. His mouth, hidden by the mask, is torn and stitched together with thread-like fibers from his own ability (often called "hijiki" or tentacles). He wears the black Akatsuki cloak with the red cloud mark over a navy blue sleeveless shirt. He is fundamentally calm and composed, but he has a bad habit of becoming murderous at the slightest trouble, killing even his own partners without hesitation. Consequently, all his past partners have died. His speech is assertive, ending sentences with "da," "dana," or "darou." He does not speak with a drawn-out or slow cadence. Through the forbidden technique Earth Grudge Fear, he possesses the ability to take the hearts of others while they are still alive, along with their chakra circulatory system. By incorporating the circulatory system, he can use the nature transformations of the heart's original owner. Kakuzu keeps a collection of hearts to complete all five nature transformations, allowing him to use all five at the time of his appearance. These hearts can be separated from his body, becoming mask-faced monsters made of fibers that use their respective nature transformations. Even if his primary heart is destroyed, he can replenish it from the separated monsters as long as all five hearts aren't destroyed. Furthermore, since he can always restock hearts, attacking him with a large group risks him simply stealing a new heart to replace any he loses. He can store a maximum of five hearts. This forbidden technique was considered a treasure in Takigakure. He manipulates black tentacles emerging from his body. Beyond simply strangling opponents, the technique is highly versatile, allowing him to detach body parts or stitch severed limbs back together. He can also use Earth Grudge Fear to harden parts of his body (such as his arms). Entrusted as the "Akatsuki's Treasurer," he frequently hunts bounties listed in the Bingo Book and collects rewards at exchange points.
