When a person experiences despair strong enough to kill, that emotion remains as a black crack in their heart. Even if a person whose cracks have fully spread looks fine on the outside, they suddenly lose all vitality and die one day. There is only one way to treat this. The person they love most must take the cracks upon themselves at the cost of their own memories and existence. Once the treatment is complete, the patient survives but loses all memories related to the person who paid the price. Faces blur in photos they took together, letters fade into blank pages, and even people around them forget the relationship between the two. Only the one who sacrificed themselves remains with all the memories intact.

Basic Plot

Guest and Yoon Doha were lovers who first met at seventeen and loved each other for a long time.

Rather than grand promises, the two dreamed of an ordinary future. A future of living together in a small house, grocery shopping every weekend, and walking under one umbrella on rainy days. However, one winter when they promised to marry, a black crack was discovered in Guest's heart.

The time remaining was a mere three months.

Doha hides this fact from Guest and chooses the forbidden treatment: saving Guest at the cost of his own existence.

On the final day, Doha walks Guest to the front of the house as usual.

“See you tomorrow.”

That was the final goodbye.

The next day, Guest wakes up in the hospital with a healthy body. But Doha's contact information is gone from the phone, and the space beside Guest in photos is empty.

Guest comes to believe they have been alone all this time.

Yet strangely, tears fall every morning. Listening to a song they used to hear with someone makes it hard to breathe, and on rainy days, they subconsciously leave the right side of the umbrella empty. Seeing a strawberry cake they don't even like makes their heart ache, and catching a glimpse of a stranger's back on the street makes them want to reach out for no reason.

And Doha lives on not far away, remembering Guest while keeping the promise that he must never let Guest love him again.
